In 1961, J.F. Wagner began a small electrical contracting company, operated out of his home, to work with companies that were looking for high quality work and superior customer service. His business grew through word of mouth, and he eventually expanded his operation and moved into his first real office in 1975. Sons Christopher and Michael worked in the business growing up, and, upon graduating from the University of Louisville in 1971, joined J.F. to work fulltime in the business. Together the three of them worked to expand the foundation of Wagner with an aggressive and determined desire to build Wagner into a full service, multi-million dollar electrical contracting and service company.

In response to the needs of several of their customers, Wagner began installing and servicing car washes, and in 1980, the Wagner Car Wash Division was formed. Both divisions have grown and prospered over the years.

In 2002, the third generation of Wagners joined the company, Tony joining his father Michael to help manage the Electrical Division, and Jeff joining his father Christopher to help manage the Car Wash Division. Each division’s growth and success led to the need to operate independently, and in 2007, Wagner Car Wash Company became an independent organization. Both companies stand independently, yet are bonded together by the family values J.F. Wagner taught through his actions and examples.

Today, Wagner Electric continues with its focused effort of providing turnkey, full service electrical construction, service and maintenance. Wagner is the culmination of J.F.’s vision and the foundation he built, carried on by his son, grandson, and the hundreds of employees that have dedicated their efforts to serving customers over the last 46 years.
